ThermaSol DSV-4000 Digital Shower Valve: Complete Guide

ThermaSol DSV-4000 Digital Shower Valve: Complete Guide

The ThermaSol DSV-4000 Digital Shower Valve represents a fundamental rethink of how a luxury shower is controlled. Instead of a wall full of individual valve trim pieces — one per fixture, each requiring its own rough-in, escutcheon, and handle — the DSV-4000 consolidates control of up to four shower outlets into a single concealed valve managed entirely through a ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch touchscreen control. The result is a cleaner shower wall, a simpler installation, and a more intuitive daily experience. This guide covers every spec, feature, and installation consideration you need before you order.

What is the ThermaSol DSV-4000?

The DSV-4000 is ThermaSol's Digital Shower Valve — a concealed thermostatic 4-port valve that replaces traditional exposed valve trim with digital control through the ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch interface. Rather than reaching for individual valve handles to turn on a rainhead, hand shower, or body spray, you control every outlet from a single touchscreen — with precise temperature, pressure, and sequencing control for each.

The valve itself is installed in an accessible location behind the shower — typically in a service cabinet or adjacent access panel — and connects to up to four shower fixtures via 1/2" NPT outlets. The ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch control mounts inside the shower and handles all user interaction. No trim. No handles. No exposed valve bodies on the shower wall.

Key features

Industry-leading Flühs ceramic disc mixing valve. The DSV-4000 uses a Flühs ceramic disc mixing valve — the precision standard for high-end thermostatic shower control. Ceramic disc valves deliver precise temperature control, long-term reliability, and resistance to wear that traditional cartridge valves cannot match.

Four-port shared-function outlet design. The DSV-4000 supports up to four 1/2" NPT outlet connections — covering every fixture in a modern luxury shower: rainhead, hand shower, body sprays, and standard showerhead. Multiple outlets can be activated simultaneously where local codes and plumbing conditions allow, enabling full-body hydrotherapy experiences from a single valve.

Tandem valve capability — up to eight total outlets. For larger shower environments, two DSV-4000 valves can be paired in tandem to a single ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch control, supporting up to eight total outlet connections. This makes the DSV-4000 the right specification for master bathroom showers, spa-level custom installations, and commercial wellness environments where a single four-outlet valve is not enough.

High-flow performance. The DSV-4000 delivers up to 10.5 GPM at 55 PSI — sufficient to run a large rainhead at full flow simultaneously with a hand shower or body spray without pressure drop. Per-outlet maximum is up to 7 GPM at 55 PSI.

IAPMO approved. The DSV-4000 carries IAPMO approval and meets ASME A112.18.1, CSA B125.1, CSA B125.16, and ASSE 1016 codes — providing the specification confidence needed for permitted residential and commercial installations.

Stainless steel and brass construction. The valve housing is stainless steel with brass and stainless steel fittings — built for the moisture and temperature conditions of a shower environment and rated for long-term concealed installation.

What the DSV-4000 replaces — and why it matters

In a traditional luxury shower with multiple fixtures, each outlet requires its own thermostatic or pressure-balancing valve with its own trim piece on the shower wall — a separate handle or knob for the rainhead, another for the hand shower, another for each body spray. A four-fixture shower can have four separate valve trims on the wall, each requiring precise alignment during tile installation and each adding visual complexity to the finished shower.

The DSV-4000 eliminates all of that. One valve behind the wall — concealed and accessible for service but completely invisible from inside the shower. One touchscreen control on the shower wall that manages every fixture. The result is a cleaner visual environment and a more intuitive experience — tap the rainhead icon to start the rainhead, tap the hand shower icon to add the hand shower, adjust temperature once and it holds across every active outlet.

Trim-free design. The DSV-4000 is installed in an accessible location outside the shower enclosure — a service cabinet, access panel, or mechanical chase — and must remain accessible for long-term maintenance and service. It should not be installed in a fully enclosed or walled-in space. Valve location must be within 10 feet of the shower for optimal performance.

Compatible controls — ThermaTouch2 and SignaTouch

The DSV-4000 must be paired with either a ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch control for operation — it does not function as a standalone valve. This is not a limitation but a design intent: the intelligence that makes the DSV-4000 work — precise thermostatic control, outlet sequencing, user profiles, remote access — lives in the control, not the valve.

ThermaTouch2 — ThermaSol's flagship control. Available in 7" and 15" touchscreen sizes with an Android-powered interface, Bluetooth audio, Alexa activation, streaming apps, Tranquility Scenes, and customizable user profiles. The ThermaTouch2 manages steam, water, lighting, and sound from a single waterproof panel mounted inside the shower. When paired with the DSV-4000, it controls each outlet independently with precise temperature and flow management.

SignaTouch — ThermaSol's streamlined digital shower control for installations where the full ThermaTouch2 feature set is not required. The SignaTouch provides digital shower control without the steam and entertainment functionality of the ThermaTouch2, making it the right pairing for pure digital shower applications where steam is not part of the installation.

The complete ThermaSol digital shower system

The DSV-4000 is designed as part of ThermaSol's integrated digital shower ecosystem. When combined with a ThermaSol PRO Series III steam generator, HydroVive rainhead, and ThermaTouch2 control, the DSV-4000 becomes one component in a fully unified wellness experience — steam, water temperature, lighting, music, and ambiance all managed from a single control with no physical valve handles anywhere on the shower wall.

Installation notes

Accessible location required. The DSV-4000 valve must be installed in an accessible location — a service cabinet, access panel, or mechanical chase — that remains accessible for long-term maintenance and service. Do not install in an enclosed space or wall cavity that would require demolition for access.

Maximum 10 feet from shower. Install the valve no more than 10 feet from the shower for optimal performance. Longer runs reduce responsiveness and can affect temperature consistency at the outlets.

Run 3/4" supply lines. Hot and cold inlets are 3/4" NPT — ThermaSol recommends running 3/4" supply lines from the source for best flow performance. Reducing to 1/2" at the supply will limit the system's ability to achieve maximum flow at multiple simultaneous outlets.

Power requirement. The DSV-4000 requires a 110VAC power connection at the valve location — plan the electrical rough-in before closing the access panel location.

Flow control. Flow is controlled with inline flow regulators — plan the flow regulator locations for each outlet during rough-in rather than retrofitting after tile is complete.

Recommended pressure. The DSV-4000 is designed for 40–60 PSI operating pressure with a maximum of 80 PSI. If the supply pressure at the installation location exceeds 80 PSI, a pressure reducing valve must be installed upstream of the DSV-4000.

Frequently asked questions

Does the DSV-4000 work without a ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch control?
No — the DSV-4000 must be paired with either a ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch control for operation. It is not a standalone valve and does not have any onboard user interface. All control of outlet activation, temperature, and flow happens through the digital control.

Can I run all four outlets simultaneously?
Multiple outlets may be activated together where local codes and plumbing conditions allow. The DSV-4000 is rated for up to 10.5 GPM total at 55 PSI — running multiple high-flow fixtures simultaneously requires confirming that the available supply pressure and flow can support the combined demand. Confirm with your plumber and refer to local code requirements before activating multiple outlets simultaneously.

Can two DSV-4000 valves be controlled from one ThermaTouch2?
Yes — tandem valve capability allows two DSV-4000 valves to pair with a single ThermaTouch2 or SignaTouch control for up to eight total outlet connections. This is the correct specification for large custom shower installations with more than four fixtures.

Does the DSV-4000 work with ThermaSol steam generators?
The DSV-4000 controls water outlets — it does not directly control the steam generator. When paired with a ThermaTouch2 control and a ThermaSol PRO Series III steam generator, the ThermaTouch2 manages both the DSV-4000 water outlets and the steam generator from a single interface, creating a fully unified shower and steam experience.

Where does the valve need to be installed?
The DSV-4000 must be installed in an accessible location — a service cabinet or access panel — that remains permanently accessible for maintenance and service. It must not be enclosed in a wall or space that would require demolition to access. The valve must be installed within 10 feet of the shower.

What code approvals does the DSV-4000 carry?
The DSV-4000 is IAPMO approved and meets ASME A112.18.1, CSA B125.1, CSA B125.16, and ASSE 1016. It is a Type T device for use with a showerhead rated at 1.0 GPM or greater. Refer to ThermaSol installation instructions Doc No. 81306-1 for complete installation requirements.
